It was just really lovely to see that I had a community, to see that there was a community that I didn't have to build that was done for me, that I could just literally walk into a room and make friends.

Brad spoke with Moira and Patrick about being a Capricorn Member and the importance of having a community in an industry like the automotive industry. While it is easy to get caught up in everything that needs to be done, especially in an ever changing and fast moving industry, Moira reflects on how important connecting with others in the industry has been for her and the company.

"It is a really fast moving industry. It never seems to stop, and I think that's one of the things that I love about this. Because we've been in the industry ten years, and I don't think there's been a day that I haven't learned something new.

And Capricorn is just there. It's kind of an invisible friend, if you like. I think what I didn't appreciate when I first came into the industry, is just how much is done behind the scenes by the leading organisations by Capricorn and by the MTAWA, to assist Members, to be there ahead of us, to think of things before we think of them, so that then we can kind of follow in a path that somebody else is lighting the way. And we just met some fabulous people, you know, through the industry. Particularly through Capricorn, because of the community building events that you do.

I think the first year in business for us was both frightening and overwhelming it's just the scale and the pace and the volume of what I had to learn, and I just felt really isolated and really alone. And then walking into the trade show and seeing familiar faces from suppliers and just seeing the scale, just the number of people involved and also seeing all the wives, all the kind of invisible back office support that is present in the industry that isn't always celebrated or acknowledged.

It was just really lovely to see that I had a community, to see that there was a community that I didn't have to build that was done for me, that I could just literally walk into a room and make friends. And then those friendships have continued to grow and develop and then the Gala was just really fun.

I've always felt welcomed and respected. And I don't think anybody has ever made me feel less than in this industry."
